Through our ‘Dignity’ program, we managed to do a medical mission in one of the villages of nakasongola. The mission was on Good Friday, we partnered with a ministry called Focus on Health and we also hired some medical personals from Mulago Hospital our national referral Hospital. On Our Agenda, we sensitized cervical and breast cancer, cervical cancer screening, distribution of sanitary pads, family counseling and sharing of the Gospel.
We had about 120 women who turned up. The youngest of the women was 15 years and the eldest was 75 years. We screened 56 women and also gave out sanitary pads where each woman received 5 packs to take them for 3 months. Good enough none tested positive of any type of cancer.
However, we got over 10 cases of women presenting with signs and symptoms of Pelvic Inflammatory diseases (PID), 8 cases of Candidiasis and 1 case of Uterine Prolapse which we referred to the National Referral Hospital called Mulago Hospital in Kampala.
Dignity program is one of our programs in Unreached Africa, where we focus on restoring the dignity of a women. Through this program we focus on the well being of a woman in the villages, our focus age is mainly from 14 years of age and above.
We realized that many girls in our villages miss a week of their school days every month during their periods. In this program we move to villages, schools and distribute sanitary pads to help the women in villages and girls in school with this problem.
Some women are abandoned by their husbands during this week calling them unclean. In this program we also focus on their health status, we sensitize cervical and breast cancer screening,we also do family counseling helping them with family challenges BUT above all we preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to these wonderful women.
We want to thank you friends for your prayers and financial support, we wouldn’t do this if it wasn’t for your generous support. God bless you as you read this news letter and please feel free to share it with a friend.
